@piecharthosen
Hey, I’m on my second round of (Atkins based) low carb. I’d totally advise you to try and stick with it. I’ve been struggling all my life with weight, this is the only thing I could do on my own that really worked. Last time I lost 45 pounds in 3 months, now I lost 20 in just under a month. I’m less strict now, and have one day in the week where I allow myself “little pleasures”- but no binges. It makes it manageable for me. What I love about lowcarb is I’m not actually hungry.
@carbonunit It’s absolutely amazing isn’t it? The Paleo diet that is. Wish I’d known about it earlier.
The low carb ketone diet works very well for me as long as I included moderate exercise like walking 45 min, Im a pre diabetic and this diet pretty much normalized my glucose levels, I have been using the Paleolithic Diet approach
@piecharthosen This is exactly the pattern I teach… 3-4 days on low carbs, one day on higher carbs. It’s a bit more tricky than that of course, otherwise you’ll make yourself sick on the higher-carb day. everyotherdaydiet [ d o t ] com explains the process. Also, I mix a lot of fish (flounder is my favorite) with chicken, consuming 1 serving only a day of chicken or beef. Fish, egg whites (with one yolk) and whey make up the bulk of my protein.
@1975supermike Heh… well, he does tend to think with a very small head, so … ; )
On the end of day 3 of a very low carbohydrate diet. My body is screaming for carbs every moment of the day, and today I broke down and had some peanuts and snacks. Very little, like 10 grams of snacks.
Still researching this. For example today I only realized that mayonaise + tuna + pepper = a quick and simple tuna salad with zero carbs! How hilarious it this. I should look into other combinations, in case I just get plain bored of steak and chicken every day har har
Thanks 1975supermike… I could not agree more. Nor could dozens of studies over the past two years; the largest being the massive “4-Diet Study” where even a diet as low-carb radical as Atkins still managed to out-perform low-fat and moderate-carb diets in lowering lipids (except HDL; HDL rose) and weight loss was superior.
People like VariedInterest just live to insult others. I have learned never to let their own misery bother me too much. ; )
p.s VariedInterest is a cock !!
gr8 vid man good info. low carb diets are better for you than many people think.
I am leaving this online to demonstrate to the readers (a) that I gave you a chance at a rebuttal; you do nothing to spew ad homs… such a great defense of your absurd “totally false” comment that we “uneducated” (i.e. M.S., CCN) haven’t a chance at a comeback quip; and (b) you extend your range of insights all the way to my emotional capacity as a human, not just carbohydrates, and yet somehow you believe yourself to be quite the lovely little thinker.
What a tremendous ass.
The only thing you have “clear” is the space between your ears when you look through one and out the other. You are a posturing, babyish, uneducated macho clown who has been fooled by the unqualified validation of the very frivolous company you choose to surround yourself with, incapable as you are of critical thought or sincere emotion. It falsely reinforces many things you consider to be biological truths, but are actually common fallacies of a post-literate, intellectually atavistic society.
Oh really? Shoot — prove your points. “Totally false” — start there. Oh, and you can take a pass on the childish insults if you want to make another post. Clear?
I guess you need a brain to damage one. Very tricky business. Everything you just said ranges from dubious to totally false, mostly the latter.
Well, I’ve been on a very low ‘cyclical’ carb diet (cyclical being the operative word) for 15 years and I’m not a mental vegetable yet. Moreover, there are entire cultures that ‘never’ eat carbs (the Massai, the Inuit, etc.) without a hint of brain damage. The brain functions off fat and ketones more efficiently than glucose. Consider 250,000 years of evolution: No carbs except for warm periods. The brain adapted nicely… still does.
More of this HDL LDL bullshit, hahaha. It is pretty apparent for me from talking to people on really low carbohydrate diets, that doing so causes some form of brain damage.
The brain has long been viewed as an insulin-insensitive organ. Following the demonstration of insulin receptors in the brain, this assumption has been challenged, and a whole new field of research has emerged. Insulin appears to play a role in brain physiology, and disturbances of cerebral insulin signalling and glucose homeostasis are implicated in brain pathology. This special issue of the European Journal of Pharmacology provides an overview of research into the involvement of glucose.
I am just so sick of the phony science that is put forth as nutritional advice. Uh, mineral and vitamin deficiencies from a meat, egg and vegetable diet……..that is funny. Animal products are nutritional powerhouses, same goes for veggies. Uh, DUH, what would you rather live on if you had one choice, EGGS or PASTA? I hope your said eggs, because if you did not you would get very sick on that crappy pasta or whatever junk the so called experts push. Man evolved and thrived on meat and veggies!
Thanks so much b1naryd1g1t5 (wow, what a moniker… ; ) While there’s a lot of good stuff going on between the ‘buddy’ crowd, I always feel better when its confirmed by peer-reviewed lit (and sometimes that’s hard to find.) Thanks again.
Only on Tuesdays. Then again, you’re a moron every day of the week, now aren’t ya?
FYI your a fag
Thanks for the vid. I always appreciate those who use actual research in peer reviewed journals to back their claims, as opposed to the “bro science” that is so prevalent in the fitness/bodybuilding community.
This guy has a good speaking voice. He should be in radio.
Have you ever seen the movie “fat head?” I think you’d like it, it has tons of doctors and evidence for low-carb diets. You can look up clips on youtube and the user actually responds to messages and questions.
I’d love to give you a hug, but, I’m afraid you might crush me.
you wanna know the best reason for the ketogenic version?–at least initially. after just a few weeks, i could sit in front of a table garbage (cakes, cookies, chips, etc) at a family gathering and have absolutely no impulse to eat any of it. i finally felt sane with food because i broke the insulin cycle that propelled me. talk about a bittersweet moment. i stayed very low carb throughout, had loads of energy and lost 55 lbs. now i simply eat low carb and still drink plenty of water.
